The Asia-Pacific WiMAX Conference & Exhibition in conjunction with the 2007 Taipei Summit Asia-Pacific WiMAX Conference kicked off in Taipei today with more than 400 delegates from 17 countries and nearly 40 selected exhibitors from around the world participating in the two-day event, according to the show organizer.
In addition to luring nearly all Taiwan major network-equipment makers, the show has attracted participation by the world's leading telecom equipment vendors, including Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola and Nortel Networks, said the organizer.
With Taiwan's government planning to issue WiMAX operation licenses by the end of June, the presence of WiMAX equipment and solutions by the leading equipment vendors will help them secure WiMAX orders from the designated operators, according to market sources.
Taiwan makers are displaying a wide variety of WiMAX devices, with a focus on 802.16e technology, including 802.16e Wave 1 and Wave 2, the sources noted.
