PARIS (Thomson Financial) - French telecoms equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent said it agreed a partnership for the mobile TV market with Quantum SpA, an Italian developer of multimedia devices and software.
No financial details were disclosed and the French group did not say if it is taking an equity stake in Quantum.
In a statement Alcatel-Lucent (nyse: ALU - news - people ) said the two groups aim to to develop terrestrial or hybrid terrestrial/satellite mobile broadcast products using the new DVB-SH mobile broadcast standard.
The DVB-SH acronym stands for 'digital video broadcasting -- satellite services to handhelds.'
These will be aimed for use in portable multimedia players and in-car media devices.
In March, Motorola (nyse: MOT - news - people ) Inc said its strategic venture unit had made an unspecified investment in Quantum.
